Our Story
McKechnie Commercial Realty was founded on the belief that thriving businesses build stronger communities. The company’s roots trace back to 2008, when a passion for real estate began with buying, renovating, and selling residential properties. Over time, that passion grew into a broader vision—one that combined deep real estate knowledge with strategic marketing, economic development, and community connection.
Before launching the firm, experience was built across industries—from healthcare and hospitality to public relations and tourism—with a consistent thread of helping people connect, grow, and succeed. After relocating to Southern Maine, that expertise was further refined through work in economic and community development in Sanford and within the Kennebunk-Kennebunkport-Arundel Chamber of Commerce. It was there the power of local partnerships, public-private collaboration, and business support truly came to life.
This diverse foundation led to the creation of a real estate firm built not just to facilitate transactions, but to guide clients through commercial real estate decisions that create lasting impact—for their businesses and for the communities they serve.

Meet Suzanne
With 25 years of experience in marketing, promotion, and business development, my background includes leadership roles such as Executive Director of the Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Arundel Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Specialist with the Sanford Regional Economic Growth Council, and Project Development Officer for the Maine Office of Tourism.
In addition to professional roles, I previously owned and operated a small café and retail dive shop in Southern Maine, which supported the launch of the Zero Gravity Diving Center—a jointly owned aquatic therapy program that taught individuals with disabilities to swim and scuba dive. The program received national recognition from NBC Dateline and ABC Good Morning America.
Well-versed in state and local business incentive programs, I bring a strong understanding of key industries including manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and specialty retail. I’m passionate about delivering professional, community-centered service that supports both business growth and individual success.
A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, I’ve volunteered with the American Arthritis Foundation, Red Cross, Diabetes Association, and was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the American Cancer Foundation in Portland in 1998.
More recently, I’ve served as a Committee Member of Mobilize Maine and a Board Member of the Maine Beaches Association. A proud Maine native, I currently live with my family in Kennebunk.
